Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira was spotted at the Emirates Stadium before Arsenal’s pre-season friendly with Lyon on Sunday.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has appeared to distance himself from a move for Sami Khedira after the Juventus midfielder was spotted at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

The German was present for the Gunners’ pre-season friendly against Lyon, which ended with Emery’s side losing 2-1.

Khedira has been linked with a move away from the Serie A champions this summer after injury restricted him to just 20 appearances in all competitions last season.

The arrivals Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot have led to suggestions that the former Real Madrid man has been deemed surplus to requirements by Maurizio Sarri and is looking for a new club.

The 32-year-old, who played no part in the Italian giants’ recent tour of Asia, has been linked with a number of clubs, with Arsenal , Fiorentina and Valencia all touted as possible destinations.

And the midfielder’s presence at the Emirates over the weekend only intensified rumours he could soon join former team-mate Mesut Ozil in north London.

However, despite praising Khedira’s abilities as a player, Emery appeared to deny suggestions that a deal could be on the cards.

“Khedira is a very good player but this is the first time I have heard his name mentioned,” the Spaniard said about the midfielder’s presence.

At least one more face is expected at the Emirates this week, with forward Nicolas Pepe set to join in the coming days after a club-record £72m deal was agreed with Lille.
