Match Highlights: Angers vs Arsenal

Arsenal defeated French Ligue 1 side – Angers 4 – 3 on penalties in their penultimate fixture of their 2019 preseason schedule.

The fixture, used to mark the Angers 100th year celebration, saw a second-string side as Head Coach, Unai Emery handed several of the youngsters who have played a key part in the preseason campaign so far another chance to impress.

The home side dominated the first half and were largely rewarded after Farid El Melali rounded Emiliano Martinez to roll home their opener.

Arsenal levelled up five minutes into the second half after Matteo Guendouzi’s inviting cross found its way to Reiss Nelson.

Gabonese striker and the league’s highest goalscorer for last season, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang missed a glorious sitter after Mkhitaryan’s initial effort was parried to his path.

The game ended 1-1 after 90 minutes and went into penalties which Arsenal won.
