Arsenal technical director Edu has held negotiations with the representatives of wantaway centre-back Laurent Koscielny and his chief suitors, Ligue 1 club Rennes to resolve his future.

The Arsenal player has effectively gone on strike to push his way out of the Emirates Stadium this summer and refused to travel with the rest of the team for their pre-season tour earlier this summer.

Koscielny wants to depart and has made it clear that he doesn’t want to play for Arsenal again in spite of having a year left on his deal with the club.

The Gunners are attempting to resolve the situation and according to the BBC, the club chief Edu met the defender’s agents to sort out his future.

The Brazilian deal-maker also held discussions with Rennes president Olivier Letang as the French outfit are interested in snapping up veteran France international.

The Arsenal technical director is interested in sorting out the situation surrounding Laurent and get him out of the team as soon as possible.

Arsenal have continued to hold talks with his other potential suitors as the Frenchman lies in wait to complete his move.

The club are insisting on earning a sum from his departure while Laurent believes owing to the years of his service, Arsenal should consider letting him go on a free transfer.
