Arsenal would be setting themselves up ‘for a treat’ once they complete the signing of Lille player, Nicolas Pepe. This is the view held by his teammate – Jose Fonte.
Fonte, a former Southampton defender rates the Ivorian International highly and believes he would bring adding something significant to Arsenal.
‘He is super quick, he has a left foot which is silky, one vs one he is second to none,’ Fonte told UK Sports Radio, talkSPORT.
‘He finishes really good, he takes penalties, he takes free kicks. He is a very, very accomplished player and I think Arsenal fans will be in for a treat for sure.’
‘He’s incredible if he can reach the same level, which I believe he will, which he did with Lille last season then Arsenal fans will be very happy.’
Pepe’s stats last season are quite impressive and would make for a blissful reading for Arsenal fans. The 24-year-old ended last season with impressive figures in the French Ligue 1. He scored 22 times – a figure only bettered by Kylian Mbappe, and provided 11 assists in 38 appearances.
He is reportedly set to sign for Arsenal in a club record deal worth £72 million after his club rejected advances from Italian side, Napoli.
