Arsenal Youngster Kelechi Nwakali joins Porto B on loan with option for permanent transfer.

Arsenal youngster Kelechi Nwakali has joined Porto B on loan until the end of the season, with the Portuguese giants having an option to make the deal permanent in 12 months’ time.

Nigerian midfielder Nwakali, 20, arrived in north London to much fanfare in 2016 having been identified by the Gunners’ as one of the star players in the Super Eagles’ Under-17 World Cup winning side of the previous year.

However Nwakali struggled to make a major impact either in the youth setup or out on loan, where he spent time with Dutch clubs VVV-Venlo and MVV Maastricht last season.

He will now go to Porto’s reserve side, who play in the second tier of Portuguese football, but he has big hopes for his time as a Dragon.

Nwakali said: “My main goal is to develop and evolve as a player, to improve my qualities and the other aspects that I know I need to correct to grow in the way I play. I think FC Porto is the right place to evolve as a player.

“I know Porto very well, because one of my idols always in football played here: Deco. He was a player that I loved to watch and I hope one day being able to meet him and tell him the importance he had in my desire to be a football player.”

Arsenal Fan by Birth. Funny, loving and a nice guy to have around you. Personally don't hate Spurs or Chelsea, but if i do have a chance to play for any of them, I would retire.
