Arsenal could have three injured players back in the squad ahead of the North London Derby clash against Tottenham on Saturday.
Petr Cech and Nacho Monreal had to be substituted at a point in the 5 – 1 victory over Everton last Saturday. Monreal was said to be ill and had to be substituted at half-time while Cech didn’t recover from the kick to the calf he received after colliding with the Toffees’ giant forward – Oumar Niasse.
Their respective injuries made their participation in the derby a doubt, but according to the London Evening Standard, both players would be fit for the game and therefore would be available for selection. Petr Cech’s injury is said not to be as serious as first thought while Monreal is said to be ready to return to training. Both players would be joined by Danny Welbeck who has been out of action for a longer period.
Welbeck hasn’t played since the 2 – 1 loss at Bournemouth, however, his imminent return will give a huge lift to the club. Whether he will feature is another matter though.
Arsenal would be hoping to reduce the point between them and their rivals by the time they both square-up on Saturday.
Only a win would do.
