Just when you think there is a bit of good news on the horizon for the Gunners, a not-so-good one pops up.
According to the Daily Mail, Ozil has reportedly told friends he would prefer to move to Old Trafford once his deal with us expires. This is despite reports from The Times and other media outlets that Arsenal are making progress in their current discussion with the German playmaker.
These reports claim Arsenal have offered him a new deal worth around £235,000, which he has rejected.
According to the Daily Mail, Ozil is interested in working with Jose Mourinho again, who he had an enjoyable relationship with when they were both at Real Madrid.
However, they failed to mention the name of that friend he told and the platform on which he told him.
When asked if an approached had been made to settle Ozil’s future, Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger maintained that the club is working on keeping the both Ozil and Sanchez at the club
“No. Negotiations are always going on with everybody.” Wenger said
“I said that many times [that I want Sanchez and Ozil to stay] and that’s all we can say.
“Is it two years to go? One year to go? Three months to go? The door is always open and for the rest I cannot tell you much more.”
With only some days to the start of the transfer window, stories like this would surface. It’s up to us to believe what we want.
