The calvary out for Arsenal midfielder, Mesut Ozil are still out in full force. And their anger does not look like subssding anytime soon. The newest addition to their rank is former Chelsea player, Ray Wilkin.
Ray Wilkin lashed out at Ozil over reports he wants the Number 10 shirt as part of any deal to extend his Arsenal contract.
Wilkin is of the opinion Ozil isn’t a great player, has never been, and as such, does not deserve to wear the Number 10 shirt.
Speaking on Talksport, the former Stamford Bridge favourite said, “He is not a great player so why should he wear 10?”
“Why should he nick that off Jack? I think the word ‘great’ is used far too often.
“I don’t think he has ever been a great player. He’s been a fantastic player. I don’t think he is a great player.
“You see him in the Premier League week in week out, he’s a good player, he’s a very good player.
“But the word ‘great’ is used far too often in this game.”
It’s laughable really, but then, if I do have a chance to ask Ray WIlkins a question, I’d love to ask him what kind of player he thinks he himself is.
Until then, he should enjoy himself.
