Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has confirmed striker, Danny Welbeck injured his groin during the 0 – 0 draw at Chelsea.
Welbeck, favoured ahead of Alexis Sanchez has endured a lot of injury nightmares since joining Arsenal. He got injured in the 73 minutes after attempting to tackle Brazilian defender, David Luiz. He was later replaced by French striker – Olivier Giroud.
Speaking to news men, Wenger said the injury is a ‘good one’ but they are yet to discover the full extent.
“He has a groin problem,” Wenger said. “I don’t know how severe it is but it looks like a ‘good’ groin problem, not an easy one.”
Danny Welbeck has featured in every league game for Arsenal this season, scoring three goals in the process.
Everyone at Arsenal will be hoping this injury is not a severe one given that the striker featured just 20 times for the club last season. An injury to him just when he’s picking form is something the club cannot afford.
With Ozil missing out of the Chelsea stalemate due to injury, Welbeck had better get himself up and start running!
More info on the Arsenal injury situation should be given before the League Cup game against Doncaster Rovers on Wednesday evening.
