Arsene Wenger might be leaving Arsenal sooner than expected according to recent reports. The Frenchman’s current contract expires at the end of the season and he might not extend if he doesn’t feel wanted.
Wenger has been the subject of abuse from fans in recent years because of the club’s inability to sustain a title challenge and this series of abuse is believed to be getting to him.
According to The Mirror, there is a new 2-year deal on the table for the manager, which he might not sign if things doesn’t change.
There are also reports the Frenchman, who is currently serving a 4-game ban for pushing fourth official – Anthony Taylor, in the victory over Burnley, might sit among Chelsea fans when both teams meet at Stamford Bridge this weekend.
According to the report, Wenger chose this because the Chelsea director’s box is at the opposite side of the ground to the dressing rooms and it would take him too long to make his way there and back before and during the game. The report also states that he will be flanked by security staff.
That might be the official reason but the underlying aim should be to get away from the abuse Arsenal fans might hurl at him if things don’t go their way. Strange.
Even a thick-skinned man will get to a point where he can’t take it anymore and according to The Mirror, Arsene Wenger might have gotten to that point.
