Until he leaves Arsenal, Arsene Wenger will forever be in the news.
According to reports, the decision on whether he leaves or stays at the club will be made at the end of the season. There were renewed calls from fans and ex-players for him to step down after last night’s thrashing at Bayern Munich.
His current contract expires at the end of the season and he has been offered a new two-year contract. According to the BBC, despite yesterday’s result, Wenger will not leave before the end of the season. The BBC also reported that the decision regardless of the outcome will be mutual.
Reports in The Mirror suggests that the Frenchman will leave this summer and will not move into administrative role. This means when he does decide to leave, he will cut all ties with the club.
According to the report, Wenger will not also choose his successor. Sources close to him believes he will walk away.
Last night’s was one of the worst during Wenger’s 20-year reign with several pundits claiming players have lost faith in the Frenchman’s ability to lead them on.
There are reports the club have started searching for a replacement with Juventus’s Allegri, Dortmund’s Tuchel and Atletico’s Simeone being mentioned in some quarters.
