Olivier Giroud has been receiving several commendations from everyone following his wonder goal against Crystal Palace.
Skysports pundit Gary Neville claimed that’s the best goal he has ever seen. Arsenal legend, Ian Wright said the goal was the best ever scored by an Arsenal player while Arsene Wenger rank the goal high up with the best all through his Arsenal reign.
Such was the quality of the goal.
Apparently, Giroud’s teammates were all in awe of the goal too, Alex Iwobi has revealed. Who wouldn’t be?
“A lot of people were coming in at half-time with their mouths open like this,’ Iwobi said doing a jaw-dropping impression.
‘They couldn’t believe it; they were all congratulating him, but it was only half-time. At the end of the game we could all say, ‘Well done, Ollie.’
“It’s so rare. We have some special players and you do see the odd crazy thing, but nothing like that has ever happened in training.
“We’ve had two now with Mkhitaryan [scoring in very similar fashion for Manchester United on Boxing Day]. Don’t know who will be next. Those two goals were up there with the best I have ever seen.”
“Ollie scored a special goal. I have never seen a better goal than that live. It was amazing for me as well to get another goal in the Premier League.”
