Arsene Wenger spoke to the media this morning and gave an update on the current situation of our injured contingents.
On Santi Cazorla who has been ruled out of action for the next three months, Wenger said,
“For me its very bad news, I always try and avoid surgery, it creates a lot of anxiety and rehab.
“This time it’s unfortunate that we have to draw that conclusion. He’s out for at least two months, but that could go up to three. You have the date for surgery, but not the date for his return.
“Santi is desperate to play, he’s only happy on the football pitch. He wants to get out of this vicious cycle of being in and out of the side.”
On Debuchy who lasted only 14 minutes on his return to the side, Wenger confirmed he has suffered a severe hamstring injury and would be out for a while. Poor guy! Wenger also confirms that Debuchy won’t be able to go out on loan in January either.
“It’s frustrating for me but even more for him. He has an exceptional attitude and overall he is absolutely disappointed.”
On Elneny who was withdrawn from the game against Southampton due to illness, Wenger confirmed he won’t be involved at all when Arsenal visits the Olympic Stadium tomorrow to face West Ham.
The best news of the morning is that Danny Welbeck is back in training after being out since April, although he is at least four weeks away from playing again.
