When Arsenal failed to sustain their title challenge last season, I had this guilt I might have contributed to their bad luck. I can imagine you asking why. This is because I was supposed to be in church that Sunday we hosted Leicester City in the Premier League, but because the service was becoming too long for my liking, I stormed out of the church to the nearest viewing centre. I wrecked my trouser while celebrating Danny Welbeck’s winner that day and I thought that was ‘enough punishment from God’ for leaving the Church. (Please note: I’m an African, a Yoruba guy and we believe there is always an outcome for every action we take)

Unfortunately for me and for the club, I was wrong! Our title challenge crumbled like a pack of cards and we eventually ended the season trophyless.

Today, with the Champions League draw holding in some hours time, I made a deliberate attempt to tempt fate and perform my own draw for the last 16 and I might have just put the club I love in more troubles. Poor me!

While making my draws, Real Madrid was the first club out of the box. To face them in my draw, I picked Atletico Madrid and Barcelona but because teams from the same countries can face each other yet, they’ll have to make do with Italian side – Napoli.

German team, Borrusia Dortmund will face serial Europa League winner, Sevilla. Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen will face off while Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will battle Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.

English Champions, Leicester City will meet our group’s runners up PSGMonaco square up with Porto  while Benfica will aim to shock 2015 winners Barcelona.

If youare following, you would know there are two teams left in my Draw Box and they both came out last. For the 1000000000000000th time, Arsenal will face Bayern Munich in the Champions League Round of 16.

This is not the Official UEFA draw but the one I conducted in my room that is located in the exterior part of Lagos, Nigeria. This draw is starting to make me believe that we might never be able to escape either Barca or Bayern regardless of where we finish in the group. That said, for the sake of world peace, I hope not!

Or maybe it’s about time we realized they are our cup of tea and then device ways of dealing with them.
