The right-back who was signed from Barcelona as a 16-year old has been in fine form for the Gunners since establishing himself as the first choice right back two seasons ago.
His run of good form earned him a place in the Premier League XI for the the 2015/16 season. He was also part of Spain’s squad to Euro 2016 held in France although he didn’t feature.
The length of the deal is undisclosed, but The Mirror is reporting that the young Spaniard signed a six-year deal with the club, a deal which will see him earn over 100,000 pounds per week and as such become one of the highest paid players at the club.
Speaking on his new deal, Bellerin said, “I’m really happy. As you know, I’ve been here for a long time. I feel like this is my home and this is the right thing for me to do. I’m very happy to be a Gooner for many more years. This is a really big day for me”.
There have been reports that Barcelona and Manchester City are interested in the defender, stories which the player has refuted severally.
Speaking on Barcelona and City’s reported interest, Bellerin said, “It’s nice for a player to know that big teams want you but I’m very happy here. I’ve still got three years left on my contract so I’m just focused on playing every single week, improving and hopefully making things happen here at Arsenal.
