Much has been said about how difficult it always is for Arsenal in the month of November and Arsene Wenger agrees. With back-to-back games against rivals Tottenham and Manchester United coming up, Arsenal boss – Arsene Wenger has said this month will show if his team is ready to be champions for the first time since 2004.
Arsenal, leveled on point with Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the English Premier League, have always struggled in November with the club averaging 1.59 points/game in the month under Wenger – their lowest when compared to other months.
The Frenchman acknowledges the uniqueness of this month and believes the togetherness in the team could see them through the turbulence it might pose.
“We now have difficult games coming up, with a difficult November, so by the end of November we will know more about ourselves,” Wenger said.
“The desire is there and the mentality is great, though. There is great togetherness, we have quality as well, so they are good ingredients.”
Arsenal who were held to a goalless draw by Middlesbrough on Match Day 9 responded in a devastating manner against Sunderland, whipping the Black Cats 4 -1 muchto the delight of their manager, who wants the team to show that on a consistent basis.
“We have to show that we can do it week in and week out. We want to show it on a longer distance. That is what is at stake.
“We’ll see, but the win shows our belief that we can bounce back from a disappointing result last week.
“We also showed we can bounce back in a game when it doesn’t go our way, so overall I believe that it can convince the team that we playing the right way.”
