Arsenal little magician, Santi Cazorla is in the last year of his contract with Arsenal but has not been offered a new contract by the club. As a matter of facts, talks have not even begun for the Spaniard who has been in great form this season.
The player joined Arsenal in 2012 and has been phenomenal both on and off the pitch. He has formed a a superb partnership with Francis Coquelin and his understanding of the game is second to none.
Speaking to Spanish news outlet, Cadena Ser, Cazorla said he is waiting for contract talks with Arsenal and there are indications he is eager to extend,
“I hope I can stay here and continue to play,” he said.
“I am happy here. What a player wants is to play and to feel important. Fortunately, since I arrived at Arsenal, I’ve had the confidence of the coach and of my teammates. I’ve played a lot of minutes. In the end, that is what every player wants.
He added: “I’m very happy here. The club has treated me very well. I’m in a great club and I’m playing minutes which is what I want.
“If I didn’t play, then I would consider leaving but that is not the case. I have this season left under contract and we will see what the club decides regarding my future. I will also decide what is best for me.”
Cazorla will be 32 in December and what Arsenal has in stock for him is unknown at the moment but we can’t put it past the club to offer him a 1 year revolving contract just like they did with Arteta and Rosicky in the latter part of their careers.
Having said that, we hope they sort this as soon as possible as the player is a very important member of the squad.
