It’s a big one in the Premier League this weekend as Arsenal welcomes Chelsea to the Emirates. Chelsea, being a thorn in the flesh of Arsenal and manager Arsene Wenger since the arrival of Jose Mourinho in 2004, will look to continue in that manner when the two sides lock horns in the tea time kick off on Saturday.
The last 12 years, dated from the arrival of Mourinho to Chelsea, hasn’t been all rosy for us as we’ve only won 5 out of 29 in all competitions. We got 7 draws in the process while Chelsea come out top 17 times in 12years. That’s a ridiculous bit of stats.
Also Chelsea will come into this contest with so much confidence as they have been undefeated in 5 of their last 6 matches against us in all competitions.
Chelsea under Conte
The Italian’s promising start to his Premier League career was blighted by a draw at Swansea and a home loss to Liverpool before the comeback win over Leicester in the EFL cup during the week. Conte is known for his strict tactical approach to games and loves catching teams on counter-attacks especially attacking sides, something Arsenal will need to be wary of tomorrow.
Tactics and Possible Line-up
With 10 goals conceded in the last 7 games in all competitions, Conte will look to concentrate more on his team’s defending against an almost free scoring Arsenal. Players like Eden Hazard and Diego Costa have been the standout performers under Conte and so are expected to retain their place in the squad. The Blue’s weakest link at the moment is their shaky and leaky backline.
Possible Chelsea Line-up
Courtois; Ivanovic, Cahill, Luiz, Azpilicueta; Kante, Matic; Willian, Costa, Hazard. (4-2-3-1)
Prediction: With the maturity in the Arsenal side, I’m going for an Arsenal win.
