France booked their place in the Semi final of the Euro 2016 with an emphatic 5 – 2 victory over Iceland ending the tiny nation’s hope of a Leicester City – Style finish. Arsenal duo, Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny were both in action and you can read about their performances below:
Laurent Koscielny had another excellent game in the centre of the Les Bleus defence and was substituted in the 72nd minute for Eliaquim Mangala apparently as a precaution as he was one booking away from missing the upcoming all important semi final clash against Germany.
Koscielny has started every game for France and has been one of the best defenders in the tournament.
Olivier Giroud bagged a brace, the first and last goals for France in the 13th and 59th minute and was voted man-of-the-match to cap up an impressive attacking display. He also got an assist for the goal scored by Antoine Griezmann in the 45th minute before being substituted for Andre-Pierre Gignac in the 60th minute. Giroud has started and played every game but one for France so far in the tournament and has scored 3 goals.
