Arsenal’s move for Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy is now off according to Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour.
Parlour who played for Arsenal between 1992 – 2004 on Talksport’s Sports Breakfast claimed to have inside knowledge that Arsenal thought their £20 million move for the striker who had 24 goals last season was going through and even had everyone on standby for his medical.
But despite being offered a bumper, four-year contract worth an estimated £25 million, it now looks as though Vardy has decided to accept City’s improved contract offer and stay put.
“It looks like it isn’t happening now,” said Parlour.
“I was at the Arsenal the other day and there were big reports flying around, and the club’s cameramen and digital staff had to get down to the training ground.
“So it looked like it was going to happen – there was a medical being done.
“But it seems Vardy thought about it while on England duty, and suddenly there was a U-turn.”
Arsenal fans should really feel bad if the deal is off. There are better players out there who would do the job required of them. So who the hell is Vardy?
