Liverpool are prepared to make a £25m bid for Arsenal’s Theo Walcott, reports The Sun.
It was reported Walcott held talks with the Arsenal Manager, Arsene Wenger at the end of the season and they both agreed the only feasible option for the player is on the right wing rather than his desired centre forward position.
It will be recalled that Theo Walcott struggled for game time during the second half of the season, which cost him a place in Roy Hodgson’s England squad. A four-year deal is said to be on the table at Anfield with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp in the market for a quick, versatile attacker and Walcott fits the bill.
The Sun in their report claimed insiders at Arsenal say Walcott, who has been injury-prone for so much of his career at The Emirates, is looking for a new start and it could happen with a four-year deal at Anfield.
How Walcott will fit into the system remains to be seen as there are competitions for space even on the right side of attack. He would have to compete with Alex Iwobi, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Aaron Ramsey and even Jack Wilshere for game time.
It will be interesting to see how this pans out, as I don’t think Arsene Wenger would sanction Walcott’s sale to a direct rival.
