Reports making the rounds have it that Arsenal are hoping to complete the shock transfre of Jamie Vardy within the next 24 hours. If this does happen, this will mark a very sharp deviation from the normal Arsenal we used to know.

As reported yesterday, we have triggered a release clause in Vardy’s contract and talks have begun although there is a strong indication that Leicester might want to reject any advances we might be making towards their prized asset.

Daily Mail is reporting that Arsenal are confident the deal will be rubber-stamped before Vardy leaves for Euro 2016 on Monday.

Arsenal are making their move after Manchester United turned down the chance to register their interest, with Jose Mourinho said to be interested in just one striker this summer – Zlatan Ibrahimovic. There are reports that Liverpool offered Jamie Vardy close to 140,000 pounds but were rejected because they are not in the Champions League.

England boss Roy Hodgson has made it clear that he does not want medicals or negotiations being done while on Euros duty and Arsenal believe they can get it done quickly.

Further discussions are expected this weekend but the deal is moving quickly.

Arsenal will offer Vardy a considerable increase on his current £80,000-a-week contract.
