Arsenal have reportedly enquired about Atletico Madrid star Yannick Carrasco.

Carrasco who was part of the Monaco team that knocked Arsenal out of the UEFA Champios League two seasons ago arrived at Atletico last summer in a £15million deal.

The Belgium international has impressed for Diego Simeone’s side, scoring the equaliser in Atletico’s 1-1 draw with Real Madrid in Saturday’s Champions League final.

Although Carrasco, 22, eventually ended up on the losing side in Milan as Atletico were beaten on penalties, he nevertheless attracted the attention of a number of top suitors all around Europe.

The Daily Express quoting Italian football journalist Emanuele Giulianelli said Arsenal have made the first move by inquiring about the player’s availability.

Arsenal are expected to invest massively in the squad this summer with Arsene Wenger desperate to avoid another season without a trophy.

Arsenal’s midfield will be depleted by the departures of Mathieu Flamini, Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky.

And while the arrival of £30m Granit Xhaka will go some way to filling the gap, Carrasco’s direct attacking style is could be add an extra dimension to Arsenal.

An impressive tournament would no doubt see more of Europe’s elite clubs make a move for the winger.
